Joint guidance by National AIDS Trust and the British HIV Association.
The Home Office has responsibilities to ensure people under their care receives the same standard of care as people who are not detained. Despite this, there have been multiple instances where people living with HIV have not been supported to maintain their health and adhere to their treatment.
The guidance is aimed towards operational and healthcare staff in immigration removal centres (IRCs) and short term holding facilities (STHFs) on how they can implement best practice for supporting daily health management and linkage to care.
The advice and recommendations were written to prevent any disruption in treatment and care and accelerate the testing process.
