Drug-related deaths in England were increasing significantly since 1993 to the oint where it has is now recognised as a public health crisis.

Therefore, local authorities should consider harm reduction as a priority within their wider health strategies and establish innovative services and intitaives to loer the number of drug-related deaths. National AIDS trust with English Harm Reduction group contacted all local authorities inEngland asking about their plans to address the crisis and how it was prioritised in their governing bodies.

The responses from the local authorities addressed questions in the letter on Consideration of DRDs at council and committee meetings, Naloxone provision, Opioid Substitution Therapy, Public Health Funding and Heroin Assisted Treatment/Drug Consumption Rooms.
