Robbie Currie, CEO, National AIDS Trust said:
“We welcome the Government’s 10 Year Health Plan and its commitment to end new HIV transmissions in England by 2030 through delivering the next HIV Action Plan.
The three shifts outlined – hospital to community, analogue to digital, and sickness to prevention – are essential for meeting the goal of ending new HIV transmissions, supporting people to live well with HIV, and tackling growing health inequalities.
At National AIDS Trust, we are already working to realise many of the ambitions set out in the Plan. We are working to expand access to PrEP to prevent HIV transmissions; strengthening the HIV response at an Integrated Care System level; and exploring how digital transformation can improve care and outcomes for people living with HIV.
However, to make the vision of the Plan a reality, we must see sustained investment in the NHS, stronger NHS partnerships with community organisations, and a continued focus on tackling inequalities. This includes ensuring that the forthcoming workforce plan for the health service sets ambitious targets to recruit new staff to work in HIV community care.
We look forward to continue working closely with the NHS and Government to ensure that the 10 Year Health Plan delivers on its ambitions and helps create a future where we end HIV cases, and ensure everyone with HIV can live well.”
