Thank you for considering leaving a gift in your Will to National AIDS Trust.

Since the first deaths from AIDS-related illnesses in the early 1980s, huge progress has been made.

Effective prevention and treatment are now freely available, freeing us from the cloud of fear of those early days. And now, with the right commitment and support, we can see an end to new cases by 2030.

But the battle is far from over. Stigma and discrimination are still rife, and our community is more likely to live in poverty, be unemployed, feel isolated, and experience mental ill health.

Your Will is a unique opportunity to shape the future and it will allow us to continue to fight until there is equality.

For an HIV and AIDS charity there’s a particular significance to leaving a ‘legacy’ gift: a personal statement of what we want to leave behind, representing our beliefs, values and the experiences that have shaped us.

Leaving a gift in your Will to National AIDS Trust helps to pay tribute to all those who have lost their lives to the condition, and to keep their memories alive, as we face continuing stigma and discrimination. That, for me, is really important.

How to leave your gift

We’ve partnered with Kwil to offer our supporters the opportunity to write a free online will. The process takes as little as 30 minutes and all Kwil wills come with free lifetime edits.

You will be able to choose to leave a gift in your Will to National AIDS Trust but this is completely optional.

An example of wording you could use:

I leave my / X share (s) of my residuary estate for National AIDS Trust, The Green House, Unit 3.9, 244-254 Cambridge Heath Road, London E2 9DA, registered charity number 297977 (England and Wales), absolutely for its general charitable purposes and I declare that the receipt of the treasurer or other proper officer for the time being shall be a sufficient discharge to my executors.

Types of gifts in a Will

  • Residuary

    A residuary gift is a share of your estate. Your estate means everything you owned, including money in your bank account, investments, and physical belongings such as your property and furnishings. You can specify what percentage of the total value of your estate you would like to leave to us, after any taxes or costs have been subtracted.

  • Pecuniary

    A pecuniary gift is a fixed amount of money. It’s worth bearing in mind that the value of a pecuniary gift is likely to be reduced over time by inflation.

  • Specific

    Specific gifts are particular items, such as a house, stocks and shares or jewellery: anything that's of financial value that you would like to leave to us.

What a gift in your Will can do

We won’t stop until we end stigma and discrimination. Your gift will help us fight for equal access and opportunity for people living with HIV: whether they are in a care home, accessing healthcare, using products and services, at work or anywhere else where they need our support.

It will ensure the root causes of discrimination are tackled. It will change policies, practices, laws and public opinion until HIV no longer stands in the way of health, dignity and equality.

It will let us fight for an end to new HIV infections in the UK – a once in a lifetime opportunity.
